Halloween Costumes
Another Halloween has come and gone, and I feel the need to let you know how Aaron and I really feel about Halloween. We’ve decided we are the Grinches of Halloween. We both (especially Aaron) used to love Halloween, but now it’s just too much work. We spent all week working on and shopping for our costumes which did turn out to be pretty sweet (see Halloween 2008). The lack of sleep combined with the dread I had of 28 kids for a full school day on Halloween really took out our Halloween spirit. So to replay this week I looked for a good pregnant costume idea online and found this great idea of a pregnant skeleton. I knew there was no way I could paint it but I thought Aaron could. He spent all of Wednesday evening painting my skeleton and it was absolutely amazing! The kids in my class couldn’t stop touching my belly and I had people coming by my classroom all day because they heard “you have to see Mrs. Hardy’s costume.” Everyone kept asking me if I had this professionally done, and as you can see it was as good as professional. We had a parade in the afternoon where each class walked past the entire school and parents to show off costumes. I loved the looks on everyone’s faces! All in all I am so impressed with Aaron’s work on this, all I had to do was wear it.
Now Aaron’s costume was an event as well. He decided to be a foosball player. After painting my costume on Wednesday we stayed up and made the “paddles” on his feet. Then Thursday he did the painting and I made the eyeball eggs you see on there as well. He had a contest at work where he won “most creative costume.” No surprise there, right? He also won “spookiest side dish” for the eggs. Both of these awards got us some great gift cards for food and movies. How did we celebrate that evening? We went out to eat and then hid in our room from trick-or-treaters. I guess the Grinches in us are still there.
